Dr Frederiksen is an Orthopaedic Surgeon with a special interest in hand surgery. There are a number of conditions of the hand that he can treat including;

  • Fractures of the hand which may occur in the phalanges (small bones of the fingers)  or the metacarpals (long bones)
  • Finger tip injuries and amputations - such as those caused by work or home accidents (e.g. car door)
  • Arthritis of the thumb or hand which usually presents as irritation or degradation of the joints
  • Hand nerve damage from pressure, stretching, or cutting. causing loss of muscles control, or loss of feeling in the injured area.
  • Dupuytren's contracture - a thickening of the fibrous tissue layer underneath the skin of your palm and fingers.
  • Trigger finger or limited finger movement such as when you try to straighten your finger, it locks or catches before straightening.
  • De Quervain's tendinosis - or constriction and irritation of tendons around the base of the thumb
  • Soft tissue lumps
